Extractions
An extraction is removal of the complete tooth when it’s decayed or extremely mobile and cannot be saved from other treatment. Extractions are also indicated for wisdom teeth when they cause severe pain and pressure due to incomplete eruption and at times for orthodontic treatment if the teeth are maligned leading to overcrowding
Procedure
Consultation, medical history : Clinical evaluation and checking for medical conditions/ medications/ allergies to ensure the procedure is safe and to prevent complication
X-rays :Helps to understand the placement of tooth in the bone and complexity of removal
Dentist decides whether a tooth is to be removed using surgical or non-surgical depending on the radipgraphic findings. Surgical extractions generally involve removing bone around teeth or sectioning the tooth to allow easy access.
Extraction : A scheduled appointment of 45mins-1 hour, the tooth and surrounding area is numbed using and local anesthesia with strict hygiene.
Post Extraction Care: It’s important to follow the instructions post extraction to have a good healing
Follow up appointment : To evaluate the post extraction site
